Job Description

The Agricultural team plays a critical role in the successful execution of the company’s objectives. The team ensures that all developments be it consultancy or our own adhere to our performance and sustainability focused goals.   

 

The Agriculturalist, Regional Head of South America will manage and provide support to all the company’s developments in South America, ensuring optimal productivity, risk mitigation and research and training. You will also assist with regional strategic recommendations and provide support to our management team in regard to our global developments. Currently, the role is to be based in Mexico or Brazil but the location is flexible and open to discussion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the performance of all regional developments and relevant staff

  • Creates and oversees the implementation of irrigation, advanced cultivation techniques and best management practices regarding the storage, handling and distribution of agricultural inputs such as  fertilizer and produced products .

  • Provides solutions to problems and issues related to our developments from an agricultural and operational  perspective

  • Visits developments, production and distribution  sites for evaluations.

  • Oversees applied and field research into productivity, healthy and environmental conditions and consults with global agriculture specialists.

  • Provides technical training and conducts information sessions, workshops, educational presentations and one on one correspondence with staff and farmers throughout our local communities.

  • Responds to questions from staff, farming associations, government agencies and the general public about our developments, food, soil and the environment.

  • Advises the senior management team on new opportunities, research & development and provides support to other regional manager as and when needed. 

Ideal Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Agriculture, Agricultural Management, relevant programs, or  crop specialization.

  • At least 10 years of applied experience across South America managing staff and working with multiple crops, ideally in one or more of the following: Avocados, Mangos, Guava.

  • Passionate about the sector with strong interpersonal skills such as explaining and disseminating technical information in an easily understandable manner,

  • Fluency in English is required and in one or more of the following languages: Portuguese and/or Spanish.
