AGRI Developments is dedicated to nourishing the world in a safe, responsible and sustainable manner. Sustainability is a key underlying principle of our entire business. It guides us in our commitment to developments that delivery a positive impact. We believe positive impact goes far beyond profitability and encompasses food security, corporate social responsibility as well as providing benefits on a socioeconomic level. Sustainable development meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
Sustainability is a multifaceted issue, in which agricultural production and people's diets play a crucial role. Achieving a sustainable food future is an urgent matter that depends on global collaborative efforts of producers and consumers alike. Some key priorities of AGRI Developments include food security, land use, water resources, community welfare and nutrition.
Food Security
There will be 9.6 billion people in the world by 2050, that will require more than 70% more crops than we have today. The world needs to sustainably feed the world whilst combating global challenges such as climate change, reduction in arable land and water scarcity. We believe the world can meet the rising demand for food by doing more with less.
Land Use
Helping agriculture produce more with less is critical. Innovation and advances are essential to ensure food security for a growing global population. By employing advances such as tissue cultures, dwarfing, grafting, HDP we aim to use less land to produce more.
Water Resources
Water scarcity is an impending crisis. 70% of all fresh water currently goes into agricultural production. Additionally, 28% of agriculture lies in water stressed regions. At AGRI Developments, we take steps to manage our water resources through conservation, efficient disbursement and improving water quality.
Community Welfare
We work strongly with the local and surrounding communities to improve their livelihoods. We do so by helping them improve their cultivation practices to increase productivity, and by promoting agricultural practices that are more efficient and environmentally friendly.
Nutrition
We are focused on ensuring that people around the world have access to safe, nutritious and affordable food. We support green developments that do not overly rely on chemicals and pesticides and that are focused on organically grown produce. Controls are in place for accountability and measurability throughout the production chain.
